Fire and Water by Ewan McDougall

I painted the work Meds for Horrendous Times last year when getting dispirited by some of the world's 'leaders', horrific wars and a worsening climate crisis with its massive flooding and burning. So I went into the studio and found colour, levity and serenity in the mahi. Some works in Fire and Water do relate to crucial problems, but they also relate to exciting things in life: a wild boat ride, gallivanting in the Awa in a natural idyll (the stuff of my childhood) and misbehaving with a wide, jaunty grin.
In the words of Monty Python: Always look on the bright side of life
