Their wings mirror the light of sky, flash of the waters below and the brilliance of the rainbow. It is a messenger on change and reflects all the colour of life. 🐋 Whale earwax … not often a topic of conversation or subject of an artwork, but it’s the focus of Eion’s painting ‘Death In Pyjamas Cleaning out earwax with the help of Tohorā Before Bed’ Eion shared this background behind the work: Whales/Tohorā produce ear wax up to 10 inches long, and much like the rings of a tree, this can provide scientists with information such as the age of the whale and pollutants in the water – but also cortisol (stress hormone) can be measured. The cortisol levels increase with the stress on the whale from factors such as whaling, climate change, shipping noise, wars etc - man-made disturbances. 🔗 link to exhibition works below👇🏼
