Jason Low
For over 30 years, Jason Low has been a prominent figure in the design industry as a designer and illustrator. With a rich career that includes running his own design company and working with respected agencies, Jason currently serves as the Manager of Design for the University of Otago. His extensive experience in the field informs his artistic practice, allowing him to bring a unique perspective to his work.
Growing up in the beach community of St Clair, Dunedin, Jason found inspiration in the breathtaking Otago coastline, often spending his time surfing its waves. His deep connection to the region fuels his passion for art, and he chooses to remain close to Otago, where the familiar and distinct landmarks continuously inspire his creative journey.
As a contemporary artist, Jason specializes in oil painting, working on both small and large-scale pieces. His art is characterized by a vibrant colour palette, where he skilfully exaggerates and saturates colours to evoke a sense of energy and emotion. With a fresh approach to landscape realism, his work features vivid use of colour, light, and texture, combining soft brushwork with sharp edges to create a crisp, light-filled perspective of an exaggeratedly positive environment.
Jason's distinctive style reflects the beauty of the Otago landscape, capturing its essence with an experienced eye for composition. Through his paintings, he invites viewers to experience the joy and wonder of the world around them, celebrating the landscapes that have shaped his life and artistic vision.
